The FURminator® Adjustable deMatter Tool removes matted hair safely and easily, thanks to curved cutting edges. The edges are adjustable with the FURextender button to work on all coat types and lengths. The easy-slide tab locks the durable, scratch-resistant, stainless steel edges in place. The tool is suitable for all dogs and cats. The ergonomic nonslip handle of the FURminator® Adjustable deMatter Tool provides maximum control while using.

Please read all instructions and FAQs carefully before beginning your grooming. Use the FURminator® Adjustable deMatter Tool only as directed. Matted fur can cause severe discomfort for pets and become increasingly difficult to remove if left unchecked. The deMatter tool can prevent mats from becoming worse and remove them completely.

Step 1
To demat your pet, first start by adjusting the dematting cutting edges to the desired position appropriate for your pet’s hair length by pressing the FURextender button, and then locking into place with the easy-slide tab.

Step 2
Move the mat breaker through fur mats following the grain of the hair, using brisk, firm strokes for best results. Continue until mats are broken up. Smaller mats will fall out on their own, or become small enough to remove with regular brushing.

The tool works with most hair types, long or short, thick or fine, and for most animal types. Regardless of hair type, always use on a dry pet so mats are loose.

Patiently tackling mats slowly and deliberately works well. Large mats that have been neglected for a long period may take some time to remove.

Grooming your dog daily with a brush or rake can go a long way to preventing the formation of mats. Once mats have been removed from dematting, it is easier to stay on top of detangling with regular brushing.
